The Altuzarra look is easy to spot: A sharp, sensually-cut blazer, a fitted sweater over a lean pencil skirt, or a shirt dress accessorized with stilettos and a leather bag with braided and tasseled trim. For spring and fall 2017, Joseph Altuzarra pushed the look directionally with a David Lynch reference for spring and Renaissance portraiture-meets-Paris’s Seventh arrondissement. As different as they were, both lineups remained anchored in the rock solid, sophisticated Franco-American aesthetic Altuzarra has established for his label, making it one of the most consistently strong and alluring collections coming out of New York. He is one of only two American designers that have the investment of one of the major French luxury conglomerates — Kering (The other is Marc Jacobs through LVMH). Next year will be another important one for the designer–he will mark Altuzarra’s 10th year in business.
