Gabriela Hearst launched her namesake collection of durable, timeless luxury ready to wear, shoes and leather goods for fall 2015 and immediately secured an exclusive with Barneys New York. Her aesthetic is upscale with a grown-up sophistication grounded in reality. Ready-to-wear is a mix of feminine elegance and classic utility with a focus on impeccable materials. The shoes and bags harken to her roots on her family’s ranch in Uruguay. That Hearst was able to come to market with three categories was impressive by new designer standards, but this isn’t her first rodeo. She launched a contemporary label Candela in 2004. In January, Hearst won the International Woolmark Prize for women’s wear.
