Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen picked up their first Accessory Designer of the Year Award in 2014, two full years before they launched their own shoe collection. Prior to that, they dipped a proverbial toe in footwear through collaborations with Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Barbara Shaum, Enzo Bonafè and Superga. Like their ready-to-wear, the shoes and bags reflect understatement, refined practicality and an emphasis on craft. Stilettos and flashy embellishments are rare in their accessories collections. Heels are mostly manageable or non-existent — some of The Row’s signature styles are flat slides and slippers. For spring and fall 2017, the runway shoes were minimalist white sneakers and luxury combat boots, respectively. The handbags, too, give a sense of anonymous style — no logos to be found here.
